What's your weakness?
The other night, my daughter and my husband were talking about heroes and their weaknesses.
After talking about Batman, Superman and beyond, there was a pause and my daughter looked at my husband and asked:
"Dad, what's your weakness?"
His reply (no pause): "Lemons and your Mother."
My heart melted.
Cheers to the little moments in life that linger with us - like the taste of lemons!

Open the door and let HIM in ...
My Sunday rainbow.
“The Lord's tender mercies are the very personal and individualized blessings, strength, protection, assurances, guidance, loving-kindnesses, consolation, support, and spiritual gifts which we receive from and because of and through the Lord Jesus Christ” (David A. Bednar, April 2005 general conference).
I received one such tender mercy yesterday ... It started first with a text from a sweet friend telling me to look outside because there was a rainbow in the sky.
I opened my door and right in front of me was a gorgeous rainbow!
It touched my heart. And I knew it was evidence of God's love for me.
His love and presence is everywhere. We have to open the door and let Him into our lives.
So thankful for the tender mercies in my life from a loving Heavenly Father who is ever aware of me, my family and each one of us.

Kindness from a stranger in Texas ...
I am always so grateful for the kindness of strangers ... My heart was touched today by an email and photos.
My son is serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Texas. He was not sure if he would be transferred this week (to a new area) and I have been praying for him and wondering if he had moved.
He has spent his entire mission thus far (7 months) in the same location.
Today, I was surprised to see an email from a member of his ward who had my son and his missionary companion over to watch General Conference with he and his family.
After hearing Elder Holland's beautiful talk on Mothers, they felt it would be good to send me photos and an email. He was moved to a new area and wanted me to know he was there and working hard.
So sweet.
The Lord is ever mindful of each one of us and of our families.
Our families matter! Love matters and He knows how to lift and carry each one of us!
I am so thankful for our Heavenly Father and the ways His hand can be seen in our lives everyday.

Dear Dad,
Just a little note for you on Father's Day.
Thanks for being one of my heroes! You taught us all how to work hard, how to pray, how to love, how to be kind, how to fish, how to be patient, how to trust in God, and how to live by faith.
I am so thankful to you and mom for the legacy you have left and the way you have made our family the most important thing in your life!
You never missed cheering for us at cross country meets, you never missed having family prayer, you never missed an opportunity to teach us about the gospel and the love of the Savior.
I love you dearly! So glad I get to call YOU Dad.
Love,
Wendy

It demands to be felt.
What I know ... pain is real. Especially emotional pain.
And when we are hurting - we need to pay attention.
Stuffing stuff away does not help anyone.
Pain... it demands our time, focus and energy.
To everything there is a season ...
A time to cry
A time to laugh
A time to dance
A time to miss
A time to mourn
A time to reach out
A time to be silent
A time to speak
My heart goes out to all of those in pain ...
Please know that God is listening and hears your prayers. Please move forward with faith and know that better days are ahead.
With and through the tough days, we can grow, learn and become!
Talk to a trusted friend
Forgive
Move forward
Pray
Listen
Write in a journal
Blog
Be patient with yourself
Get extra sleep
Spend time outside
Seek professional help

I love you through ...
We had a wonderful speaker at church on Sunday and he gave a talk about love.
He talked about 3 types of love.
The first type - I love you because ...
Because you are beautiful, because you are funny, because you are rich, because you are famous, because you dress nice, because you are never sick, because you never make mistakes, because you are popular ... (the list goes on)
The second type - I love you if ...
If you look gorgeous everyday, if you have a good job, if you make dinner at 5 pm every day, if you have 7 children, if you keep the house clean, if you pay the bills, if you drive a nice car, if you laugh at everything I say ... (the list goes on)
The third type - I love you through ...
I love you through tough times, I love you through illness, I love you through the education years, I love you through the lean times, I love you through the happy days, I love you through the young years, I love you through the older years, I love you through stress, I love you through winter, I love you through spring and summer too, I love you through your good and bad days ... (the list goes on)
It's Thursday night and I'm still thinking about his talk.
It's easy to get caught up in the - I love you if and the I love you because zones.
Love, the true and lasting type, makes it through everything.
Love through.
Beautiful, really.
That's how the Savior loves ... And HE is the ultimate example of love.

We are all just walking each other home
We are all just walking each other home.
I remember as a kid walking to and from school every day. Early in my grade school education years, I was having problems seeing. My mom took me to the Eye Doctor and we found out I had a lazy eye. In order to correct it, they had to put a black patch over my good eye. Sadly, "Pirates of the Caribbean" did not exist and so pirate patches were not cool.
I believe this eye patch incident happened when I was in the 1st or 2nd grade. I was young and shy and the pirate patch was traumatic.
My mom and younger sister, Amy, would be outside the school each day to walk me home. They wanted to make sure I would be safe with just one eye!
One day, during art, we heard a knock at the classroom door. My art teacher opened the door and to my shock and dismay stood my little sister, Amy.
She was all alone.
My art teacher asked her what she needed and she boldly declared:
"I am here to walk my sister, Wendy, home!"
Embarrassment was an understatement.
I asked her where Mom was and she told me she was taking a nap. Amy figured it was time for me to get out of school so she walked over to get me without her. She wanted me to be safe.
I remember telling her we still had 2 hours left in school and that I could get home just fine. I told her to go back home.
She walked back out of the big classroom door and I watched (with my un-patched eye) her walk down the street towards home.
I was too young to appreciate her act of love and kindness at the time. My insecurity and embarrassment overshadowed my ability to accept her love.
I look back on that tender moment with fondness and gratitude.
It's true - we are all here to help each other home.
It's our choice to let others offer a helping hand, heart or in my case back then - a loving, watchful eye.
Thanks Amy, hindsight is always 20/20 - wish I could have hugged you on that day long ago and left school with you - so we could laugh and talk and share that afternoon together!
With my sister, Amy ...
I love you.Wednesday, December 31, 2014
Dear 2014 ...
Thank you for all the wonderful moments .... We hugged.
We explored.
When needed, we were serious.
We sang ...
We gathered.
We celebrated.
We camped.
We laughed and cried ...
We fished.
But mostly ... we LOVED.

This changes everything ...
Passion - any powerful or compelling emotion or feeling, as love or hate.
Bottom line, our passions are driving us to do a great deal.
Note to self: Pay attention to your emotions (good and bad) as they have the power to change everything.

Wednesday Wisdom: Good Energy!
There's enough bad stuff going on today in the world. I won't list it here. We're all aware of the negative energy that surrounds us.
What I know for sure is that we have the ability to influence the world for good by the way we live!
Today, and everyday, share the good stuff - the positive energy ... the kind that lifts, inspires, heals and motivates.
PS: What the world needs now is LOVE (which is the best good energy there is).

Tis the season ...
I love this time of year.
It's time to slow down. It's time to snuggle with loved ones. It's time to be extra thankful for the blessings in our lives and the people that matter most. It's time to bake. It's time to eat. It's time to savor every bite. It's time for lots of pumpkin pie!
It's time to love and share kindness - even more than we normally do!
Bring on the holidays (and a few extra pounds!)
:)

Love.
Above: My cousin and her hubby - Congrats. May you always be in love!
PS: I believe in love. I believe in the ability we have to give and receive love ... I believe love is the most powerful force there is. Love lifts, heals, inspires, supports, gives, reaches, helps, touches, and most of all, it helps us become the best version of us there is.
Love. It matters!

See the light in others ...
Have you ever been around someone and found yourself saying (or thinking) - "I like myself best when I am with him/her."
Most likely you like yourself best with them because they only choose to see the BEST in you!
Today, choose to see the good in others and see what happens ...
