April is National Poetry Month …
Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance.
~ Carl Sandburg
Poetry is thoughts that breathe, and words that burn.
~ Thomas Gray
Out of the quarrel with others we make rhetoric;
out of the quarrel with ourselves we make poetry.

Snakes
Small cylinder shapes
Curl round and round
They move with no arms or legs
But they still manage to slide across
Small cylinder shapes
Curl round and round
They move with no arms or legs
But they still manage to slide across
the narrow street
Just trying to escape
Just trying to escape
The cars that will
Drive right over them
Finally they are
Safe
~ Kaleb Christensen (age 8)
